المجلس الوطني حريص على وحدة المعارضة الملتزمة بأهداف الثورة

عقد المكتب التنفيذي للمجلس الوطني السوري اجتماعاً له يوم الثلاثاء (3 كانون ثاني/يناير 2012) ناقش فيه ما أثير حول الورقة التي تضمنت أفكاراً أولية بشأن المرحلة الانتقالية والتي تم بحثها مع هيئة التنسيق وأطراف أخرى، مؤكدا رفضه لمضمونها. وفي هذا الصدد أكد المجتمعون أن مواقف المجلس الوطني تنسجم مع ما تم اعتماده في البرنامج السياسي المقرّ في اجتماع الهيئة العامة في تونس (17–18 كانون أول/ ديسمبر 2011)، وخاصة ما يتعلق بمسألة إسقاط النظام بكافة رموزه وأركانه، والحماية الدولية، والجيش السوري الحرّ، والقضيتين الكردية والآشورية، والمرحلة الانتقالية

وأوضح المكتب التنفيذي أن الأفكار التي جرى الحديث عنها لا تعدو كونها نقاطاً للبحث كان مقرراً لها أن تقدم كمسودة إلى مؤتمر للمعارضة في حال نجاح المبادرة العربية، وبالتالي فإن ترويجها على أنها "وثيقة سياسية" أخرجها عن سياقها وأدى إلى توظيف "لاأخلاقي" لها أمام الرأي العام

وقرر المجتمعون أن يطرح المجلس الوطني وثيقة متكاملة تخص المرحلة الانتقالية ومعالم سورية المستقبلية للنقاش ضمن الإطار الوطني بمشاركة كافة القوى والشخصيات، وذلك ضمن ما التزم به من مسعى لتوحيد صفوف المعارضة، وحشد الدعم والتأييد على كافة الأصعدة لضمان نجاح ثورة شعبنا والتخلص من النظام الدموي وآثاره وتوابعه

المجلس الوطني يلتقي مع وزير خارجية البرتغال
 

التقى وفد من المجلس الوطني السوري برئاسة الدكتور برهان غليون رئيس المجلس يوم الثلاثاء ۳ كانون الثاني/يناير ٢٠١٢ مع وزير خارجية البرتغال السيد باولو بورتاس

وشرح وفد المجلس آخر التطورات فيما يتعلق بالصعوبات التي تواجه المراقبين العرب واستمرار النظام في القتل والتعذيب. كما وطلب المجلس من البرتغال العمل من خلال الاتحاد الأوروبي على تأمين الحماية الدولية للمدنيين وتخصيص صندوق لمساعدة السوريين المتضررين من ممارسات النظام السوري

واستعرض الوفد ملخص مؤتمر الهيئة العامة للمجلس والذي انعقد في تونس الشهر الماضي موضحاً تمثيل المجلس لكافة أطياف المجتمع السوري بالإضافة إلى تمثيل كبير للحراك الثوري في الداخل. وحث الوفد حكومة البرتغال على المطالبة بتنحي الأسد والتأثير على موقف البرازيل لما تربطهما من روابط ثقافية واقتصادية وسياسية. كما وعبر الوزير على أن أفضل حل هو تنحي الأسد وأن الانشقاقات في النظام والجيش لن تحدث بشكل كبير يؤدي إلى سقوط النظام ما لم يكن هناك موقف دولي وعربي ضاغط بهذا الاتجاه

ويأتي هذا اللقاء في سياق عمل المجلس المستمر على نقل الملف السوري إلى الأمم المتحدة من أجل تأمين الحماية اللازمة للسوريين ووقف القتل

The SNC is Committed to Meeting the Goals of the Revolution
 

The Executive Committee of the Syrian National Council (SNC) met on Tuesday, 3 January 2012 to discuss the draft resolution containing preliminary ideas on the transition prepared during talks with the National Coordination Committee and other opposition groups. The SNC reaffirmed its rejection of the draft document.

The SNC participants reaffirmed that the SNC’s position remains that which was approved in the political program at the last General Assembly meeting in Tunisia (17-18 December 2011). In particular, the SNC reaffirmed its position on ousting the regime and all its pillars and symbols, requesting international protection, supporting the Free Syrian Army, resolving the Kurdish and Assyrian issues, and planning for the transition phase.

The SNC’s Executive Committee further clarified that the ideas discussed during talks with other opposition groups had not yet been presented to its members or to the General Secretariat. The ideas were merely points of discussion for the opposition conference, to be organized by the Arab League in the event that its initiative is successful. Therefore, characterizing and disseminating this draft document as a final “political document” was out of context and caused an unethical manipulation of public opinion.

The conferees directed the SNC to release a comprehensive document regarding the transitional period with a vision and outlook for Syria’s future. This will be discussed within a national framework that includes all groups and independents, and in alignment with the commitment to unify the opposition and mobilize support at all levels. This will guarantee the success of our people’s Revolution in ousting the criminal regime.

SNC Meets with the Foreign Minister of Portugal
 

A delegation from the Syrian National Council (SNC), headed by Dr. Burhan Ghalioun, met on Tuesday January 3, 2012 with the Foreign Minister of Portugal, Mr. Paulo Portas. The SNC delegation briefed Mr. Portas on the latest developments with regard to the difficulties the Arab League observers are facing, and the Syrian regime's continued practice of killing and torture. The SNC delegation also requested that Portugal work with the European Union to assure international protection for civilians and to dedicate funds for relief assistance for those Syrians negatively impacted by the regime's practices.

The SNC delegation also provided a summary of last month's General Assembly meetings in Tunisia, and explained that the General Assembly represents all sects and ethnicities in Syria in addition to activists on the ground. The delegation urged the government of Portugal to demand Assad's ouster and to leverage its economic, cultural, and political influence on Brazil that continues to support Assad.

The Foreign Minister expressed his view that the optimal solution would be Assad's ouster. He indicated that large-scale defections from the regime and the army would not occur unless the International Community and the Arab World exerted significant pressure to accomplish this goal.

The meeting took place in the context of the SNC's ongoing work to refer the Syrian situation to the United Nations to secure the required protection of Syrian civilians and to put an end to the killing.
