Demonstrators Asked the American Ambassador To Visit Homs To Protect Them

France demanded the regime to allow Arab League monitors to visit Homs as it is undergoing an intensified military campaign. The director of the observers’ mission, Muhammad Dabi, said that the Assad regime has been cooperating and accommodating. However, the Syrian National Council announced that observers attempted to visit the besieged areas in Homs but were denied entry by the security forces. Furthermore, an observer who called al-Arabiya news channel said that Homs is living a massacre, and that he has been injured by the Syrian Army while trying to sneak into the besieged areas. The director of the observers’ mission denied this report and said that the mission will produce a comprehensive report one month after it concludes its investigations in Syria. It is worthy to note that more than one and a half months have already passed since the League announced sanctions against the regime. The regime has been successful in pressuring the Arab League to cut down the number of observers to less than a third; from 500 to 150 members.

Security forces are still planning for more false flag operations to misguide the observers’ mission; operations akin to the two explosions in Damascus. Different sources pointed out that the regime is transporting corpses to the Industrial School in the Damascus suburb of Kesweh after restricting the entry of students, despite the fact that their mid-semester examinations have just commenced. Furthermore, patrols and guards were stationed in the vicinity of the school to stop anyone from approaching or entering the school. The same took place in the Raees (President) gas station in Homs. Reports surfaced warning of the regime’s intention to target bars and liquor stores in Syria –particularly in the touristic Christian neighbourhood of Bab Tuma in the Old City of Damascus— and blame Islamists. Abdul Qader Muhammad Sharif Nabhan, who was a demonstrator from the village of Ghanto in Homs and was arrested and forced to confess to conducting terrorist activities on Addounia TV, was found dead amongst the “victims” of the explosions staged by the regime in Damascus. This confirms reports that the regime is using dead bodies of detainees to orchestrate these operations.

Assad’s forces killed at least 56 today, 21 of them fell in Homs, and the rest in Hama, Damascus suburb, Aleppo, Deir Azzour, and Idlib. Security forces denied entry and exit to Damascus today after launching its military operations in its suburbs. Major defections accompanied by explosions were recorded in a military base in the Damascus suburb of Shoufaniya. This triggered the shooting of heavy machinegun fire from the Ashari zone, Misraba and Hijariya checkpoints, and the Military Airport in Marj Sultan. Helicopters and Russian Mig fighters were used to bomb the suburbs of Douma, Nashabiya and Hamouriya. In Qatana, security forces changed the Qatana highway road signs to point only to Saqaba and Hamouriya. Security personnel dressed up in formal suits and riding cars with Arab League flags and plates have been heading towards the city and arresting the demonstrators when they pile up around the cars to describe their predicament. In Kafar Batna, Assad’s forces retreated from the city and the municipality started repairing and restoring the main square, in preparation for the observers’ planned visit to the city. This pull back came after at least 20 houses and 25 commercial stores were robbed, adding the losses of the city to at least a quarter million dollars. The missile launchers were moved to the military outpost in front of the Bayrouni hospital at Dahiya Assad Bridge, while the tanks and armoured units were moved to the Shifuniya suburb at the military transportation outpost, vehicle administration and Air force Intelligence in the suburb of Harasta.

In Homs, heavy shelling continued in the suburb of Baba Amr, with numbers of those who were injured rising to over 300. Meanwhile, medical supplies and personnel have almost been “depleted”. More than 25 houses were destroyed and 10 were burnt, all the shops on the main road cutting through the neighbourhood were looted and destroyed. Moreover, around 3000 soldiers were brought in to the Basel stadium in preparation for the invasion of the neighbourhood. This led demonstrators to call on the American Ambassador to Syria, Robert ford, to visit the neighbourhood in order to save lives. Assad’s forces have also been clearing and occupying the upper apartments in the neighbourhoods in Homs to set up snipers to shoot civilians.
