Summary of Events

The Arab League announced that the first team of the fact-finding mission will arrive in Syria on Thursday to begin implementation of the League’s protocol. However, Syrian Foreign Ministry announced that the Mission will arrive 12 days after the signing of the agreement, which will be part of the one month grace the regime agreed upon. The regime has intensified its military operations to stop all forms of opposition and revolutionary acts before the fact-finding mission arrives. The regime started clamping down on revolting areas in Idlib and Homs with warplanes. The regime claimed the warplanes were conducting military training with live ammunition.

Assad’s forces killed at least 82 today, after 120 were killed yesterday. Most of those killed today were in Idlib, while the rest were killed in Homs, Hama, Daraa, and Damascus and Aleppo suburbs. The villages of Idlib are undergoing a massacre as it is one of the most liberated areas in Syria with minimal presence of Regime’s forces. The regime is attacking all buildings, houses, schools, hospitals, shops, or mosques, with warplanes, missiles, artillery, and tanks. Women, children and elders are getting buried alive. Meanwhile, the military campaign continues to intensify its attack on Deir Azzour, Hama, Damascus suburbs, Daraa, Aleppo Suburbs, and downtown Damascus in Maidan, where civilians were killed and two girls were kidnapped.

In Homs, new reinforcements arrived to the city of Qasir, which was raided after an initial siege with dozens of tanks, armoured units and hundreds of soldiers. Assad’s forces, supplemented with Iranian Basij troops, Lebanese Hezbollah, and Iraqi Sadr militiamen, arrested anyone over 18 and destroyed and burnt many houses. The regime shelled and opened heavy machinegun fire at the besieged neighbourhoods of Bab Draib, Karm Zaytoun, Bayada, Qosur, Baba Amr, and Bab Sebaa. Regime forces kidnapped three girls in Bab Sebaa near the Angelical School; one of them is a 14-year old Christian.
